CONCEPT
To create a center in Ruhstorf that people can experience, the design of the dominant through road is optimized. The gray-blue paving of colored asphalt, with two different surface finishes and Corten steel inlays, marks the central plaza in front of the new community center. It gives the town center a special significance and is a reference to Ruhstorf's technical and industrial history. Strips of gray asphalt in nuanced colors also run across the state road. They create intuitive crossings and make drivers more attentive in the town center. The Kleeberger Bach stream is renaturalized and made accessible so that people can experience it. Seating steps, which widen in places into decks for sitting and lounging, line the Bachangerweg and invite people to linger. The bank is planted with native meadows and perennials and stabilized in places with shrubs. The topography slopes gently from the building down to the village square. On both sides of the stairs to the main entrance, decks for sitting and lounging are arranged and, together with the beer garden on the intermediate level, frame the square.
