The design takes up the meandering form of the Wien River and condenses it into ellipses that give the outdoor area its distinctive design language. The entrance area and forecourt are surfaced in asphalt with areas of permeable epoxy-bound gravel. These structure the area spatially and define places to spend time and entrances. Islands of grasses and trees provide vertical structure and embed the building in its surroundings. The play area is a large, continuous playable landscape with different qualities. The farther from the building, the more landscape-like, looser and larger in scale the design becomes.
