CONCEPT
The revitalization of the bread factory into Loft City already brought a cultural upgrade to the residential area around Puchsbaumgasse back in 2015. The intervention on the neighboring property now continues this upgrade. Diversity as a guiding theme seems essential for creating identity, especially on a planning site of this size. The diversity of the outdoor spaces results from creating open spaces with different urban qualities, uses and elevations. The boulevard extends from Absberggasse through Loft City and Diversity City to the parks of the existing buildings north of Puchsbaumgasse. Adjoining it are plazas with a public character, such as Loft City Plaza and the Expedit forecourt. A generous open staircase leads to a semi-public outdoor area with a youth playground and adjoining community rooms and a childcare facility. Behind the residential block to the west lies the private inner courtyard, reserved exclusively for the residents of Diversity City and offering a place to retreat and find peace.
